Our Convocation and Formal Event was an outstanding and regal event. It had faith, pomp and circumstance and beauty. Everyone worked hard to give our students their moment and we capitalized on the unique venue to create a sense of pageantry that will never be forgotten. Thank you to all the staff, students and parents who worked hard and supported this unique and special day.

On Monday, June 21st, citizens across Canada recognize and celebrate National Indigenous Peoples Day. This is a day to recognize and celebrate the unique heritage, diverse cultures and outstanding contributions of First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples. In the spirit of reconciliation, all staff and students are invited to join in a Division-Wide Prayer Liturgy to commemorate this day from 9:00 – 9:30 AM. The Faith & First Nations, Metis & Inuit leadership teams have planned a liturgy that will be appropriate for all students in K – 12. As well, everyone is encouraged to wear orange on this day. Together let us gather as a faith community in partnership with the Indigenous peoples of Canada, to pray for guidance, healing and peace as we journey with one another in truth and reconciliation.
In our Senior High Robotics program, students built their REV robots in teams and then coded their robots to be able to move forwards, backwards and in circles. They also programmed their bots to move an arm and attached claw to be able to pick up and move objects as well as sense colour and touch with sensors. Our class celebrated all their hard work by having a year end competition.
We love our seniors. The Grade one and two classes had a wonderful visit with the seniors in continuing care. Those smiles are enough to make your heart burst with joy.
The Drumheller/Starland and Special Areas Rural Mental Health Networks are collaborating to provide the Community Helpers program virtually to the Drumheller and Starland County area’s. We may not be able to do swim lessons but, thanks to Drumheller Aquaplex, our students are learning the importance of water safety. Shout out to Andrea and Raine for providing engaging virtual presentations to our grades 1-3 classes on how to have fun in and around the water safely.
June 3 is mental wellness say for schools. The theme is “take care of yourself and others”. To build our collective capacity to support mental health and well- being, everyone is invited to participate in this free event hosted by Alberta Education. Please visit the website below for links.
The Drumheller and Area Asset Development committee is a community group consisting of multiple agencies coming together to enhance the life of teens in the area. All the events they have planned are following the current AHS Covid protocols and will continue to adapt as they change. Due to restrictions, they will be capping their participant numbers for events, so encourage youth to sign up as soon as possible. If they get high-interest numbers they will open up more dates. Attached is the poster for the event and watch the Drumheller Asset Development page for more posts and promotions of this event. Thank you to all our staff, students, and parents who helped us celebrated Catholic Education Week. We are truly blessed to have such a caring and supportive community.
Celebrating Catholic Education Day! We are grateful for Catholic Education. Working in Catholic Education has contributed to our hope by strengthening our relationships with God, our colleagues, our students, and our parents. The focus on love, support, and understanding for each other, especially in such trying times, is a focus in our school. Catholic Education is a gift, a way for all of us to lean on the truth, the way, and the life of Christ to lead us through, not only this pandemic but also to eternal life.
A couple of weeks ago we had some colour fun with colour wars in each classroom. There was certainly a burst of colour everywhere in the school.
Let us know how important Catholic Education is to you. Dress up in blue and send us a picture to share on our website. It would also be great if you could add a few words about why Catholic Education is important to you. Please submit your picture to JoAnne Akerboom, Principal.
This is Catholic Education Week. We celebrate the witness and mission of our Catholic School. The theme for this year, "Those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength" ~ Isaiah 10:3
Please join us for the Division-Wide Rosary🙏
